Education for a Sustainable Development

Logo_UNESCO_DekadeDevelopment of quality in schools is the object of the joint project “scientific education of teachers” which is realised by the TU Kaiserslautern, TU Berlin, University of Trier together with the University of Augsburg.

The main emphasis of the three-year further training project at the location Augsburg is on the education for a sustainable development. At the schools, teachers shall be established as environmental quality representatives or consolidated in their already existing fields of activity. In the first year the theoretical scientific foundation is layed for a successful realisation of the project. The components which shall be coupled in the conversation with the teachers are social equity, ecological compatibility and economic growth. In the second year the teachers will realise their own ideas to the environmental education topic at their schools. They are accompanied scientifically at the execution and evaluation of the project.

The scientific education is put into practice in form of online seminars and phases of attendance (blended learning). In addition a learning platform has been installed which enables the participants to cooperate overall schools and subjects and to refer their knowledge by the construction of studying networks.

The further training intends to establish a permanent network which assures the continous development of creative concepts by the teachers across the duration of the project.
