The way we use stuffs and materials gives us information about the relationship of men and nature. Profound knowledge about the handling of stuffs enables us to evaluate serious problems of environmental pollution. So far environmental research dealt with the industrial pollution of air and water initiated by current problems. Less attention is paid to individual stuffs and materials as men-nature-interface. This project is a reaction to this failure and deals with an individual substance: Aluminium. The material focused perspective throws a new light on the social handling of this metal and encourages to think in global categories.
